Sprint Backlog - Roadmap view does not understand dependency between two tasks

IBM Rational Product User (23416) | asked Apr 06 '17, 5:01 a.m.

 Hello,

In Sprint Plan, We have two change requests. Change Request 1 has two Tasks: 53378 - Task 1 & 53379 - Task 2. In planning, Task 1 depends on Task 2. Still in roadmap view Task 1 is planned first (April 4 - April 7) and Task 2 (Apr 10- Apr 20) is planned after that. This means Roadmap view is not able to understand the dependencies between two tasks and plans in order of ID.

How can I correct the same?

Thanks.

In the workitem https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=299981 comment 2, it mentions:

In a non formal project, the dependencies lines are shown in the Roadmap view using the Depends on/Blocks links, however these are logical dependencies and do not have any impact on the scheduler.

So the behavior you saw is working as designed.

 Thanks Lily for your help.

Is there a way we can change scheduler to manual schedule based on start dates and end dates defined in work item? Or how road map view and scheduler is intended to be used in RTC? Because, it is a very common use case of having dependencies between tasks and scheduling work as per dependencies.

Thanks.
