How to prevent changing work item type.
We would like to secure the work item type field, for example, not allowing a developer to change a defect to an enhancement. By removing the ability to modify the type field in the Team Configurations --> Permissions list, this also prevents the user from creating any new work item. Anyone know of a way to secure the type field without losing the ability to create a new work item?

Hi,
RTC 2.0 allows to restrict roles to modify certain attributes in the team configuration's permission area. Also roles can be restricted to create specific work item types. Would allow to do what you are asking for? Ralph |

Thanks, Ralph. I got it to work. By removing the permission to create an enhancement, this also prevents a user from changing a work item to an enhancement. So, the permission: "Modify the work item's type" doesn't seem to be very useful, seems to behave like the top level permission: "create a work item".
