Custom tags attribute and permissions

Marie Michelin (14417) | asked Sep 12 '16, 12:00 p.m.
Hi,

(Using RTC 5.0.2.)

I have created a custom attribute which type is "tags".
I thought that the permission "Modify the work item's tags/Add a new tag" was common for all tags attributes.
In fact it is only for built-in tags.

And I would like that my stakeholders only uses predefined values or existing tags.

Is there a way to do that ?

Thanks for your help,
Regards,
Marie

Hi Marie

Tags in DNG are well organized. Creating Tag is only for Admin, and Author / Commenter can only choose from a list of Tags. The only issue would be if your Stakeholder are allowed to use only a subset  of the one existing.

If it's the case than use your attribute
You can define permissions on the granularity  of a attribute per artifact type

Go to Permissions, select your Role. Search for Save Artifact > Modify Artifact > Modify Artifact of a specific type > Modify XYZ > Modify the XXX Attribute

Hope that helps

Hi Erwin,

Thanks for your answer but I'm not using DNG, I'm usign RTC.
Perhaps I was not clear in my previous message.

In fact I would like permissions that are more precise, like it is in the built-in tags.
For the build-in tags, you can restrict the permissions for one role to modify the tags only to use existing values or to add new ones.
I would like to be able to do the same for my custom tag attributes.

Do you know if it is possible ?

Thank you for your help,
Marie

I don't think the function is provided for custom Tag attribute.
