planning of minor and major releases in different streams

Hi,

In our setup, we have 2 development streams:
- one for MINOR releases = every 2 weeks
- one for MAJOR releases = every 6 weeks

We are using RTC-planning in a formal way and workitems are being created and assigned by business analysts and technical analysts to the development team.

What is the recommended way to indicate in which stream the developer needs to deliver his sources?

I was thinking of 2 ways:
- have plans per for both MINOR and MAJOR releases. This would lead to too many plans + hard to keep the overview
- add a "stream"-field to the workitem. Here the question is: can we use that extra field to create planviews per stream?

Regards,
Bernd.

Hi Bernd,

1) Is your development happens parallel for both minor and major release ?

2) In case if you are using the same set of component\code used for both minor and major releases ( don't need the separate streams, if its not parallel devlopment)

3) I think you don't need to create separate attribute, you can make use of Planned For attribute from workitem.

Please check the below link.

 1) yes

 2) changes can happen in parrallel, so we need 2 streams
 3) you mean we should create plans per MINOR and MAJOR release?
