New user field - Manager - Configuration options?

Hello all,

We added a new field to track the PM/Manager/SME of the owner(developer). I have two questions:

Does email go out to any field that has (Contributor) fields like this new Manager field?
Is there a way to shorten the list like the Category field? Can I just show 10 people out of 150 people on the project?
