  • Either use Custom section of Test Artifacts (Test Case, Test Plan or Test Suite)
  • Wait for version 7.0 of RQM because in 7.0 IBM has increase character limit from 1000 to 2500

for Text (Small) : 250 character limit
- for Text (Medium) : 1000 character limit

Please Check this Link : Character Limits for custom attributes in RQM

Is it possible to modify these limitations in the QM server settings somewhere?

I am running v6.0.6 but would be interested in valid answers for any version.

Must it be an attribute?
As an option for capturing more text, you might define a custom "Section" for the desired test artifact. This way you have even the option to enter rich text (which might be convenient for large textual information). See "Managing test artifact sections" in the online help.
This does not work for all artifact types (e.g. test case result), and cannot be configured individually per project area.

Thank you for your reply, Donat.

I need the >1000 characters data to be associated with a manual test step, so I think that it DOES need to be a custom QM attribute in this case.
