Can someone explain the differences between 2 work item searches in Eclipse?

 I have an RTC user who is reporting different results when trying to search for work items by text strings using the search dialog in the lower left corner of the Eclipse UI and the Navigate->Open Work Item search dialog.  He has tried searching for work items containing a specific string using both UIs with the options set to not show resolved items and the results are different in some cases.  We are trying to understand how the 2 searches differ in operation.

They appear to use the same Quick Search feature and produce the same results for me.

Make sure that you have chosen the same project area to search in in both places.
