Can you check this compatibility list
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21279139 Also try to add the error messages with the code tag < blockquote > Sample < /blockquote > Space after/before closing bracket is intentional. Comments

The compatability chart does not contain RFT 8.6.0.5 so that means its not compatible with any RTC?? I know that is not true as my colleagues currently have RFT 8.6.0.5 installed and RTC 5.0.2 is integrated with it. So not sure why it we can not load it now. When i try doing that IM says I need to install RTC 6.0.1 and when I do I get this error message "Installing Rational Team Concert - Client for Eclipse 4.2.x IDE 6.0.1 is not allowed in this package group; it is wiht IBM Rational Functional Tester 8.6.0.5. It might be installed in a different package.

RFT 8.6.0.5 is based on Eclipse 4.4.2 hence it could have compatibility issue when installing RTC to RFT shell.
According to https://jazz.net/library/article/1527, you need "Rational Team Concert 5.0.2 iFix008 Client for Eclipse 4.2.x IDE" ([iFix008 Client for Eclipse 4.2.x IDE] in https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/5.0.2?p=allDownloads#repo-installers. I am not sure what "Note: This problem was resolved in later versions of Rational Team Concert." means in the article as you tried with v6.0.1 and it did not work. Perhaps you can try to use "P2 install repository" from download and see if it works or not. What is your RTC server version? if it is v5.0.2, then you can only have 5.0.2 Client in this case. If it is 6.0.1, you may try with v5.0.2 or 6.0.1 Eclipse client. |
Resolved by uninstalling RFT that was included in the Rational Workbench via Installation Manager and then re-installing a standalone version of RFT via IM..when you install there is a checkbox that says also include integrated RTC..check this checkbox and it worked.

The error message is missing here.
Is the error occurring when you install RTC onto RFT Eclipse client or when you use RTC to version control RFT script?
If it is install issue, what image of RTC(6.0.1/5.0.2) do you use to install on RFT Eclipse shell?
The error message occurs when I try to install RTC 6.0.1 into the package group containing RFT v 8.6.0.5. RFT has already been installed.
I have tried to paste the error message here ..if I click on "edit" I can see the error message I pasted
