Differences between LDX and LQE for v6

Peter Morgenthaler (102815) | asked Oct 11 '15, 6:19 p.m.
 Hi,

On the surface it would appear that LDX and LQE are the same products just named differently. Is this the case? What is the purpose of each of the products and why are there two products with the CLM? Do I need both or will one do the trick?

Thanks

Peter

Hi, Peter

LDX is a small instance of LQE and is used for Backlink index provider only in Configuration Management(CM) enabled environment. If you have enabled CM in v6.0 and want to see the backlink across project areas and products, then you will need to have LDX. LQE is a data source for reporting(also used in RELM) in CLM 6.0. If CM is enabled, Report Builder will need LQE to provide near live reports for RQM(technical review only) and it should play a key role in v6.0.1 when technical review is removed for RQM and also RRC starts to support CM enabled reports.

They are for different purpose hence you will need LDX if CM is enabled and you want to see the backlink among CLM products. If you want to play with CMed RQM reporting(tech review purpose), then LQE data source is required.

Thanks

Thank you for the information. What datasources need to be added in LDX and which ones in LQE? Do they all need to be in both?

If you have all CLM components, you may add all of them except TRS 1.0 for QM Resources for both(if you have both LDX and LQX).
