Using the RTC Explorer Shell cannot accept incoming changes because folders out of sync

A developer using RTC explorer was trying to accept changes into his sandbox.  He could not because his folders were out of sync.  When he would try to resync he would get the error"CRRTC8500E".  I also told him to do a "refresh" on his sandbox.  Doing a refresh did not clear up the issue either.  He had not made any changes he was only trying to accept all changes.  I ran a "repair" on his sandbox, after running the repair in the "pending changes" view instead of showing there were changes to accept it said no changes....why?  However the problem with the folders being out of sync was still an issue.  Resyncing does not seem to be working.  Any ideas on how to correct the out of sync issue?  Also why after running the "repair" there were no changes to accept anymore?

 Hi Nanette,

The sandbox can become out of sync with the repository workspace due to a couple of reasons:

  • The repository workspace is loaded multiple times and changes have been checked in or accepted from another client session.
  • An error was encountered during an operation (e.g. Accept) that modifies both the sandbox and repository workspace.
Please find the link below and similar article which talk about it.

Note: Eg: try using fresh eclipse workspace and reload completely into new sandbox location with full update, Ensure you have backup copy of your local changes.

Regards,
Arun.

Remember to google for a previous forum question on the same topic.
In particular, the first hit will be: https://jazz.net/forum/questions/91311/crrtc8500e-server-error-error-encountered-during-check-in-when-shareing-a-root-folder-in-sandbox-explorer
If none of those hints help, you would need to engage with Rational Support (and if you can, please post how this gets resolved, since clearly others have been encountering this problem, and the more about it we can get posted to the forum, the better).
