RAD 7.5(.1/.2/./3) and RTC 2.0

kiran pasham (4611610) | asked Jul 17 '09, 10:25 a.m.
I am currently running RAD 7.5.0 (with RTC Plugin that comes with RAD). I need to connect to RTC 2.0 server very soon.

I tried to upgrade to RAD 7.5.3 but I still cant connect to RTC 2.0 server. RAD 7.5.3 seems to have RTC 1.0.1 packaged with it.

I tried to run RTC 2.0 Setup and share the eclipse with RAD but that didnt work either.

Any help to solve my problem will me greatly appreciated.

Although AFAIK currently is not a supported configuration you can do the
following using Installation Manager...

1.- Modify RAD 7.5.x installation removing its embedded RTC Integration
feature.

2.- Install RTC Client 2.0 on top of RAD 7.5.x package.

It is working for me.... but remember it is not supported yet.

Hope this helps,

Chemi.

What I did is try to install RTC 2.0 (stand-alone, not thru RAD setup)

Seems we need to do the opposite, install RAD/RSA into RTC

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3488&uid=swg21392915

Let me check if we have some doc

Hi Chris,

This is the exact message

"There is a package installed at "C:\Program Files\IBM\RAD7.5". The Eclipse IDE must not be a parent or sub-directory of an existing package installation directory."

What I did is try to install RTC 2.0 (stand-alone, not thru RAD setup) and in the installation manager options, I checked the "Extend an Eclipse" check-box and selected the folder that has RAD 7.5 installed. (This RAD 7.5 didnt extend any other eclipse.)

Did you try my indications? Those two steps I listed worked to everybody

Chemi,

1.- Modify RAD 7.5.x installation removing its embedded RTC Integration
feature.

-- Yes I did it.

2.- Install RTC Client 2.0 on top of RAD 7.5.x package.

-- What exactly do you mean here ? Share the eclipse ?? Please explain.

When I shared the eclipse, I got this message

"There is a package installed at "C:\Program
Files\IBM\RAD7.5". The Eclipse IDE must not be a parent or
sub-directory of an existing package installation directory."

Thanks for your help !

No. I don't mean share Eclipse but share Installation Manager package.

When you install RTC 2.0 Client with Installation Manager it will ask
you at specific step to create a new package or reuse an existing one (a
couple of radio buttons). You should select reuse an existing one and
you should be able to select RAD 7.5.x one.

Hope this helps,

Chemi.

Chemi,

The error I get when I try to install RTC 2.0 in a folder that

"There is already a package installed at "C:\Program

parent or sub-directory of a previously used installation
directory."

Kiran

I think that is because you have chosen to create a new package and you
are browsing file system to that directory. what I said was to choose
reuse existing package radio button so you won't be able to browse file
system but to select one of the exiting installed products in IM.

Hope this helps,

Chemi.
