Team Dashboard Event Log {$user} not replaced correctly?

A customer has reported, and I have confirmed on my own systems that the eclipse client with RTC 4.0.2 lists events in the Team Dashboard view's event log as normal, on the v5.0.2 server, but the eclipse 5.0.1 and possibly 5.0.2 are empty.  I found that if I edit the URL being used to replace the {$user} value with my email address, the feed data shows up.  So I am thinking the dynamic replacement of {$user} is broken in v5.  Can anyone confirm with more certainty that this is a bug?

I have not noticed that in any of my test installs.
