Hi,
We use RQM for production. We are in the phase of Test Case creation. We have 1500+ test cases up till now. A lot of test cases have screen shots.

The issue is, RQM is very slow. Are there any hints and tips that could help tune RQM?


Could you please advise?

Please take into consideration that I'm using Derby DB and RQM version is 1.0.0.20081017_1801

I have asked the same thing here and it seems there was not any
recommendation about tunning or improving performance (or I didn't get
any response). The general recommendation always was move to the last
version 1.0.1.1.

I opened following "defect" some weeks ago so perhaps you can reuse it

That is kind of a vague question. What are using for database, is it on
a separate server, what kind of server are you using, etc. We have over
220 users on our server with more test cases and artifacts than you
describe and we are seeing no performance problems.

Our RQM environment:

OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 - Standard Edition
DB: IBM Derby SDK 10.3.2.2 (included with Rational Quality Manager)

*** All installation packages exist on a single node. ***

Guys,
The performance has been massively increased by using FireFox and Google Chrome. The performance was horrible using IE.

It seems this is something with Plug-ins or applets. They are more compatible FireFox and Google Chrome.

Out of the topic, IE v6.x is not fully compatible with RQM. IE v7.x is much better.

By the way, I'm trying now to migrate to DB2 instead of Derby.

I have also found that new FF 3.5 (although not supported) seems to be
faster. To much JavaScript and AJAX stuff in RQM pages... :-)

Just for your information performance on RQM 2 has been greatly improved. Looking forward to the release of this version - and also to hear your experience with this version if/when you upgrade to this version.

I'd love to hear some feedback on your migration. I'm trying to spec out hardware requirements and the best RQM configuration to use. Any input is greatly appreciated.
