Trying to clarify an ifix for a defect.

CLM 406 -> 502ifix003

OK, the client is upgrading from 406 to 502. They keep getting an error during the RM piece of the upgrade. According to this:

https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Foundation#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=346068

If you rerun the rm_upgrade, you will delete the project areas. OK, what's the fix? It seems that you need to upgrade to 502ifix003 or 6.x....

If they can't upgrade because of RM erros, nor rerun to fix those errors, but the fix is in 502ifix003....how does that work?

Hi Sterling,

I think we answered this yesterday in a different thread, but I'm putting it here for more visibility.

Here is the approach:
Install 5.0.2 (ie deploy the WAR file if this is WAS)
Copy the server patch file for 5.0.2iFix003, as described in the iFix readme
Run repotools-jts -clean, as described in the iFix readme
Run the migration

This will allow the migration to use the "fixed" code. The fix can be applied ("installed") before the data has been migrated.

Hope that helps. Please comment if the steps are not clear.

Thanks,

Thanks Martha,

I will try this, but note, in the readme, it does not mention running repotools-jts -clean except to fix other encountered issues, but not as an overall step. Section 1 should be updated to add the steps to always do a -clean.

Thanks, Sterling. I was thinking of the instructions for a different fix (which is included in the iFix004, due out soon).
I will get the instructions for this defect updated in iFix005, since iFix004 has already frozen.
