How to Compare Build Results from Custom Builds

We have a build tool that runs on the host which is driven by ANT on the Build Engine server,triggered via the RTC Client Build UI Build Request action. We would like to be able to use the Compare action of Build Results, but there are no snapshots, since the builds are executed and manged by the host. Our build can be based from a workspace, but also can be done directly from streams and stream snapshots.
I assume that our builds would have to create a snapshot and either publish it to the Build results or associate it with the Build Results in some manner so the compare action will function properly.
Is this possible and is there a way for us to programmatically make this happen?
