Migration M3 -> RC1

David Csikkel (1313516) | asked May 21 '09, 6:47 a.m.
Hello,

only server should be migrated
or is it necessary to migrate client as well?

And is it necessary to export old DB and import it into new one
or could DB stay the same?

M3 and RC1 has the same table structure. You don't need to migrate the database. You can deploy a RC1 server against the existing database.

You should be able to connect to your server from a M3 or RC1 client.

Actually the M3 client will not work against an RC1 server. You should get a message saying there is a version mismatch. You will need to use the RC1 client.

And did DB structure stay the same?
Or I must export and import DB to new one version?

DB Structure is the same. You don't need to perform an export and an import.

Deploy the new RC1 server against the M3 database.
