Jazz and other Rational tools

There is a difficulty in automating traceability when using RequisitePro, Rose, Rose RealTime, RTRT, ClearCase. With Jazz now available, and Jazz integrating into other Rational tools hope the automation of traceability issue is resolved. Any comments?

We are putting a lot of work into leveraging the Jazz technology to
improve traceability (by making it easy to create links between all the
various objects, and providing mechanism for navigating and reporting on
those links).

For automatically computable traceability relations (such as the
change-sets included in a particular build), then yes, traceability is
automated (or at least, can be automated).

For manual traceability (i.e. traceability relations that cannot be
inferred from the content of an object), the Jazz tools make it easy for
users to create, navigate, and report on those relations.

But note that there will still be issues about *maintaining* those
manual traceability links, since those links can go stale whenever data
on one side or the other of the link is changed. For this, some
mechanism like the ReqPro "suspect link" will be needed.

Cheers,
Geoff
