Is DOORS NG compatible with DB2 9.7.7 or SQL 2008 R2 at all?

Adrienne Riley-Corbin (345) | asked Oct 28 '14, 3:48 p.m.

We currently have RRC 4.0.2 and have both DB2 9.7.7 and SQL 2008 R2.  We want to go to DOORS NG but am concerned that our versions of DB2 and SQL are listed on the IBM list as 'dropped platforms'.  Does this mean that DOORS NG won't work with the versions of DB2 and SQL we have, or does it mean that if we go forward with the upgrade we are basically in uncharted territory with no support available from IBM?

Hi Adrienne,

There is a check performed when attempting to connect to a SQL Server 2008 or DB2 9.7.x database.  You'll get an error attempting to create the database.  See this post for details on that.  I'm not sure if the upgrade will allow you to complete against one of these unsupported platforms or not, but in either case we do not expect this configuration to work and no support is provided for running 5.0.x on these unsupported platforms.  Maybe someone else can comment on their experience attempting to upgrade or run on an unsupported platform (ie - does repotools -addTables fail, or is there an error in the JTS status/diagnostics page, etc....)

Hope it helps,

Not the best news I could have gotten but also not the worst.  Thank you for your insight.  I am hopeful to get more comments from our JAZZ community.
