Issues related to RQM/RTC Integration for defect managment.

I am attempting to setup RQM/RTC integration for defect management in RTC and I am running into a couple of issues:

1.
After setting up all the required server properties as described in the on-line guide I am unable to link RQM project area to a project area in RTC because the step to retrieve a list of RTC projects hangs forever with a message saying "Fetching Project Areas". While some forum users indicated that they were able to pass that step by using IE instead of FF for me it hangs for both browsers (IE7, FF). The only way I was able to get around this problem was to "manually" login into RTC server from another browser window and re-attempt the linking step again, it would succeed.

2. Similarly, an attempt to raise a defect form Execution Result would also result in a hang unless as previously, I was already logged into RTC server via another browser window.

How to "fix" those hangs? If the authentication is required before RQM can communicate with RTC why I am not being prompted for id/password?

Environment that I am using:

Rational Quality Manager Version 2.0.0 Standard Edition
Internal Version 2.0.0.20090318_0818

RTC Version: 2.0 M2

The servers are installed on different machines/domains.

Hi Justin,
I checked with our infrastructure team and both the RQM and RTC downloads came from the Jazz site, I don't have specific URLs that were used for download but I believe for RQM2 there is only one download available so I would assume that would be the beta1.

In his posting Eric said that "....The RQM integration was broken during the 2.0 development. The issues were addressed for beta1...." . He didn't specify if the integration was broken in RTC or RQM code but since he provided me with a URL link to RTC code I assumed he meant the integration was broken in RTC code. On the other hand in your latest postings you seem to be questioning if we have right version of RQM server so I am starting to get confused were the problem is... :-).

Shouldn't the version/build numbers that I provided allow us to uniquely determine whether we're using beta1 code and whether it's the *right* beta1?

If the RQM/RTC integration is known to be broken in the version of the products that we have installed (as seems to be indicated by Eric's comment) which versions do we need to get installed to have it resolved?

Hi Bogdan,

OK, so the integration between RTC and RQM has been revamped significantly in the latest milestone of RQM. I haven't had time to check if I can reproduce the issue you are seeing with the versions of the products you are using. But I just tried with the following:

2009/05/16 - Rational Team Concert 2.0 RC1 (available now on jazz.net)

2009/05/17 - RQM internal build (not yet available on jazz.net)

The steps to configure the integration are slightly different from before but my first tests are promising and things are working okay. I assume there will be a new RQM build posted to jazz.net soon, so when this becomes available I'll test again with it and confirm things work as expected. Stay tuned.
