Compatibility woes with picky Installation Manager
Hi,
I am using Installation Manager (IM) to install RTC client into an
existing Eclipse. Oh man, is IM picky!
For example, I can install RTC client into Eclipse 3.4.0, but not
Eclipse 3.4.2. I have had installations where IM prevents the RTC client
installation because it was unhappy with the GMF example plugin which
happened to be installed in my Eclipse. Also IM is splitting hairs over
point releases of EMF, Mylan, GEF, all sorts of things.
So I am forced to go back-level to classic 3.4.0, successfully install
RTC client, and only then install the EMF, GEF, etc. But now I am
back-level.
Is there a way to tell IM to be less stringent or to accept my
overriding of its opinion?
Thanks, chris

One answer
Hello Chris,
you might be facing
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=63965
Be aware of this TechNote:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3488&context=SSCP65&context=SS7W3X&context=SS7VZS&context=SS7W59&context=SSSTY3&q1=eclipse&uid=swg21329702&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en
where you'll be able to find a workaround to your problem.
(basically, start the IDE at least once, after installing Eclipse,
then launch the IM)
If the issue is still present, I guess that some screen cap of the
errors displayed would help.
Thanks.
Eric.
