Backward compatibilty for reports after RRDI upgrade to 5.0

Will there be any change for existing Reports that needs to be accounted when RRDI is upgraded from 2.0.1 to 5.0.

Is there any link which gives more info ion this?

Hi Shalini,

reports developed in 2.0.1 should be compatible with RRDI 5.0

As part of the upgrade to 5.0, you will be updating the data model.
the new data model should not remove any fields, only add new one, in that sense your reports developed in the previous version should still work.
there is one case I am aware of where the old custom reports may not work, that is if you are using the data model in a localized language, there has been some corrections in some of the translations that causes the old reports to break, the solution in that case is either to have both version of the data modeled on the report server, or update the old reports to use the new values.
shall you come across this situation where you need to update the reports because of a change in the data model, Cognos provides a utility for that: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24021248

I hope this answers your question

Hi Shalini,

I think a good starting point for you is the Upgrade guide for 5.0:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSYMRC_5.0.0/com.ibm.rational.rrdi.admin.doc/topics/t_upgrade_rrdi201_to_rrdi50x.html
This should give you all of the steps from preparation to successfully upgrading to 5.0.

Please let me know if you needed anything else?
Cheers,
Paul

I went through this article but this speaks about the details steps for the upgrade and installation. I did not get the answer to my questions regarding the compatibility of reports developed in v2.0.1 with the upgraded v 5.0
