Unable to access Clearquest database from Rational Insight DataServices 1.1.1.1

Raj Asthana (1149) | asked May 20 '14, 9:31 a.m.
  Hello,
I have installed Rational Clearquest Adaptprs on different machine where ClearQuest 8.0.X is installed and Rational Insight 1.1.1.1 is installed on the different machine.
I am using 32 bit WAS and 32 bit Rational Insight DataServices. Installation and required configuration part has been completed.
When I am using the URL : http://localhost:8080/DataServices, It is working fine and giving the result in XML.

while using the URL: http://http://localhost:8080/DataServices/ClearQuest then getting the same error as Mark got it.
Error 500: CRRED0200E: An unspecified error has occurred. Caused by: [CRVAP0049E Cannot instantiate protocol provider: com.rational.clearquest.cqjni.CQClearQuest (initialization failure) ] Caused by: [null] Caused by: [com.rational.clearquest.cqjni.CQClearQuest (initialization failure)] Caused by: [cqjniproxy (Not found in java.library.path)]

Does anybody have any ideas, or pointers to assist us in resolving this issue please?

Thanks for your valuable reply.

Warm Regards,
Raj

I think the ClearQuest Adapter and ClearQuest Client libraries need to be installed on the same machine as DataServices otherwise DataServices will not be able to access the adapter?   I have all 3 on the same machine and it works fine.  Why would you not do this anyways - you incur more network hops being too distributed?

Hello Raj,

also check that you properly configured the shared libraries as described in:

Creating Rational ClearQuest and Rational RequisitePro shared libraries
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/rentrpt/v1r1m1/topic/com.ibm.rational.raer.install.doc/topics/t_postinstall_rids_sharedlibs.html

with the values from:

Values for the shared libraries of Rational Insight Data Service

 Hello All,
Thanks for your reply.
In my case, I have installed DataServices 1.1.1.1, Clearquest Adaptors and Clearquest client on the same machine.

I have followed the same link to set the values for the shared libraries of Rational Insight Data Service but still getting the same problem.

will it be fine if I install DataServices 1.1.1.1, clearquest client and Rational Insight on the same machine?

Please assist me more on this issue.

Thanks for your help.

Warm Regards,
Raj

I don't think that having Insight on the same machine will help - in fact in the future it will make it more difficult as parts of Insight (RRDI) will be 64 bit only and DataServices is and continues to be 32 bit only - this will complicate things as you would have to run 2 instances of WebSphere on the same machine which can be tricky to manage.  I would focus on resolving the DataServices issue with ClearQuest Client - it should be straight forward if DataServices, the Adapter and the ClearQuest Client are all on the same machine.  I guess the next thing to ask is what operating system are you using to host this ?

I am not sure where to go from here - I would suggest that you might want to try uninstalling the DataServices component and reinstalling it and make sure you are using the correct path to the clear quest libraries when it asks for the path (it could be a registration problem?).  I think it is something simple as it is a pretty simple component and I have not had issues when I have installed it other than getting the ETL to start because I had the password in the wrong place.

For the records the solution was that both WAS and its IBM SDK component must be 32-bit version.
