Does CLM 4.0.4 and 4.0.5 support migration from DOORS 9.4?

My cusmtomer who is using DOORS 9.4 plans to deploy DOORS NG 4.0.4 or 4.0.5.  According to the following article, requirements data of DOORS 9.5 can be migrated to DOORS NG 4.0.1.  But I'm not sure about DOORS 9.4 with DOORS NG 4.0.4 and 4.0.5.

Exporting from Rational DOORS and importing to Rational DOORS Next Generation by using ReqIF

CLM's system requirements only explain about ReqPro migration. But there is no information about DOORS migration.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Natsumi,

A full migration tool for moving data from DOORS to DOORS NG has yet to be formerly released at this time.  Until this is available, then ReqIF is indeed the usual way of data interchange between DOORS and DOORS NG.

As well as the article you quote, there is also a youtube video that should be very useful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GagDzElXKc&list=PLFB5C518530CFEC93&index=7

Interestingly, there is a warning message with ReqIF import into DOORS NG, as documented here: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v4r0m1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.messages.CLMic%2FCRRRS1619W.html

Which to me answers your query quite succinctly.  Whilst it is possible, it probably isn't advisable using 9.4 to attempt a full migration from one tool to the other.  I think you should contact Rational Client Support though so we can address the issues here (size of database; risks of using 9.4 reqIF over upgrading etc).

You highlight some key issues here, such as the lack of a Migration Support section on the SSE link of system requirements - https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/SSESystemRequirements405.  I will see if we can address this.

I may well come back and update this answer after speaking to some colleagues.

Kind regards,

Paul
