Code Churn/Change Viewlet

Gary Mullen-Schultz (28725536) | asked Feb 13 '09, 11:56 a.m.
Are there plans for any dashboard viewlets showing code change and churn over a period of time? For example, at the end of a release something that would show whether a lot of change had been introduced?

Thanks, Gary

The good news is that we are collecting the data in the warehouse. As you can see from the project activity reports:

https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.reports.viewQuery&queryUUID=_rLV2sB4LEd2HSPVezSffvQ&name=Project%20Activity%20by%20Component

you can see change set and file churn for streams.

We have an enhancement request to make this available in the dashboard.

Cheers,
Jean-Michel

In 2.0, we will have better integration between dashboards and reports. We will be able to build new reports using BIRT and have those available in the dashboards without requiring server changes. In 1.X, the various dashboard reports were hard-coded and new ones could not be deployed to the server.

Are we envisioning then that we'll have the type of code churn chart that was/is available in Project Console?

For instance, a line chart focused on a component that shows lines of code changed per day...and then project managers could use that as a gauge of how ready (or not) they might be for release?
