How to preserve DOORS tables in DOORS Next?

How do you import existing a table of data that exists in DOORS and preserve it as a table in DOORS Next?
When you  export a ReqIF package from a DOORS, table cells are imported as individula artifacts; not a complete table.

Should be covered under As a user I can import DOORS9 tables into RDNG, so I can have an accurate representation of my migrated DOORS tables (97608).

Hello David

Currently you cannot import a table into DOORS Next from DOORS using ReqIF and preserve the data as a table. As you say, the tables cells are imported into DOORS Next as individual artifacts, and not as cells within a table.

I suggest you raise an RFE requesting that the functionality to allow tables to be imported as tables be included in a future release.

If you don't have many DOORS tables, you can copy them manually using the following three step process:

In legacy DOORS:

- View->Show->Table cells->Uncheck

- Select table you want to export

- Tools->Filter->Define->Objects->Include current object->Check “Show ancestors” and “Show table cells”->OK

- View->Show->Table cells->Check

- File->Export->Office->Word->Book->Advanced->Uncheck “Use Paragraph Style attribute”->Check “borders on all cells”->Export

In Microsoft Word:

- Right-click -> Table -> Select, then Right-click -> Copy or Ctrl-C while the table is selected

In DNG:

- In edit mode of the DNG artifact: Right-click and Paste

- You may need to override “Allow Access” warning to allow IE to access clipboard

- Additional reformatting may be required...

Hope this helps,

Hi David
some improvements in this area are currently in development.  If you would care to comment on that work item, we'd appreciate your input.

For example, are you trying to migrate from DOORS to DOORS NG, or are you trying to perform a requirements exchange process between DOORS and DOORS NG?

thanks

Hello David
just a follow-up to my earlier response.  This functionality is now available for migration from DOORS to DOORS Next Generation.  DOORS tables are migrated into true tables in Next Gen's primary text.

Your OP indicated "import" but I wasn't sure of the scenario.
