new iteration and development line

john norris (20734044) | asked Dec 29 '08, 11:46 a.m.
I am new to RTC. Using 1.0. I have gone through a few tutrials.
I have added a new development line and a new iteration in the existing main development line. I have set dates and said that each will produce a release (what is the significance of that?).
The problem I am having is that in tasks, I can not set the planned for to either of these new iterations or lines.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

update to this.
2 days after the start of the iterations, these now show up on the drop down menu to be assigned to tasks and defects.
Were not there after one day. Previous iterations had ended same day as new iterations started.
So I have not done anything but something has changed (time has moved on).
So how to assign iterations to tasks without waiting for time to pass?

In order to assign tasks (work items) to an iteration, you need to set
the check box on the iteration that says a release is planned for the
iteration.

From your previous note, it sounds like you made this change in the
project area editor, but the Planned For field did not immediately
update. It seems like maybe the work item editor had just cached the
available Planned For options and didn't update itself when you made the
change to your iterations. If you think this is what happened, please
file a defect with your steps:
