History of files in a directory

Mike Johnson (28624221) | asked Dec 20 '08, 8:55 a.m.
In RTC 101, While either viewing a stream or a repo workspace, I'd like to be able to click on a directory and show the changes made to any files in that directory (recursively of course so I can see changes in subdirs as well). Is there any way to perform this?

Thanks in advance,
Mike Johnson

Sorry about this... trying to get this thread "fresh" again once to see if anyone can answer this. I figure maybe I posted during the weekend on Christmas break, so no one saw this earlier :)

Thanks in advance,
Mike

You cannot do this on an arbitrary directory, but you can select a
component in a stream or workspace, and ask for its "history" (in that
stream/workspace). You can then select two different points in the
history, and ask to compare them. In the comparison display, you can
ask for the changes to be displayed in the form of change-sets, or in
the form of file changes.

Should I file this as an enhancement request? I find myself doing this often -- looking for history on a subset of what I'd think of as my "components." For example, we organize our components with a src, database, doc, etc. directories. If I want to see changes that have happened in just the DB scripts, I'd like to click on "database" and say "Show History," and then show exactly what you describe -- any changesets that touched this directory or subdirs (or just the files that changed).

If I were to file it as an enhancement request, how would I go about doing that?

Thanks,
Mike

To submit a work item (enhancement request, defect, etc.):
- go to www.jazz.net
- select "Development"
- select "Work Items" in the "Rational Team Concert" section.
- select the "drop down" icon in the "Create work item" action, and
specify "enhancement".
- fill in the various fields, and submit.

Cheers,
Geoff

Weird! When I select "Development," I get a message that says:

Access Denied

The page you requested cannot be accessed with your credentials.

I'm definitely logged in with the correct credentials -- I am posting this message now :)

Is there something going on with the jazz.net development site for external folks?

Thanks,
Mike

I did verify that an "external user" can access that page (I keep an
"external user" account active for myself, that I use to check this kind
of thing).

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago.
I ended up switching to a different browser, and it started working, so
I concluded it was some kind of cookie problem.
