Asset Types in RAM

Sean Burke (3789137237) | asked Apr 03 '13, 4:32 p.m.
Very new to RAM so sorry about the basic nature of the questions.  I created a community and under Asset types there is an asset type called "software" that I can't remove.  Why is this case.  In this community they will only upload .pdf  files.  Is this asset type global?  Can it be removed from this community?

Hi Sean,

To limit the communities that can use your "software" asset type, in the Communities Scoping section select Restrict to selected communities, and then select one or more communities.
This can be done in the the administration asset type page:
http://<HOST>:PORT/ram/admin/repository/types.faces
In your case, you would need to make sure that your particular community is not selected.
Checkout the following link to the infocenter if you require further information:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ramhelp/v7r5m1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.ram.web.doc%2Ftopics%2Ft_config_types.html

I hope this will help you.
Regards
François

Note that only the repository admin can do this. A community admin doesn't have the authority. The community admin can only create new asset types or modify locally the global asset types. They can't restrict or delete asset type that the repository manager has made visible (which by default all asset types are visible).
