How to associate files with owner ?

Yehiel Glass (25548986) | asked Mar 12 '13, 6:36 a.m.

Hello,

We have one Eclipse project that contains files of different teams.

Every team is responsible to it's files, but one team can work on other team's files.

How can I mark the files with ouner, so developer will know who is the owner of the file before touching it ?

Thanks.

Hi,
One option would be to only put one team's files in any given component and then indicate in the component name who owns the files.  In the Eclipse client's Package Explorer view, the Component name is listed next to each project.

Hi,

We have ONE Eclipse project and we can't divide it to different projects (As far as I know, I can't divide one projects onto two components).

Is there another option ?

Another option is to set a user property.  For an example, go to https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/3.0?p=news#scm and scroll to "Set user properties on files and folders."  I don't know of a way to display this by default in the client....I think the user would have to choose to view the user properties.

Hi Yehiel,

please see: https://jazz.net/library/article/215

In 4.x you can restrict access to files and folders, however, you can only limit if people can or can not read that data, so it won't help in your case, I think.
