Track/Reporting on same change in multiple streams

Kevin Kingsbury (611310) | asked Nov 01 '08, 4:56 p.m.
Hi,

Our project has multiple maintenance streams along with a development stream. The maintenance streams are 7.1.0 and 7.1.2. The development stream represents the next release to be completed.

For our maintenance releases, when a customer has a problem/defect with the product, they will open an APAR with support. That apar comes into RTC as a work item that is planned for the release that it is reported on. Once the fix is determined and delivered to the stream, it then will need to be ported forward to any maintenance stream released after the stream it was reported in as well as the development stream. So for example, if a defect/APAR comes in against the 7.1.0 stream, it also needs to be delivered to the 7.1.2 and development streams.

What I need help in understanding is how to report on which streams a change for a work items have been delivered to. So if I have a work item planned for the 7.1.0 stream and it has a change set associated with it to fix a problem, that change set will be delivered to the other streams along with any additional changes/merges needed for those streams.

What would be the best way to report on a specific work item and its change sets and what are all the streams they have been delivered to?

Thanks,
Kevin

Bump.

Anyone have any ideas on the best way to do this? How is tracking of a defect into multiple releases done in other projects using RTC? How can one verify that a defect put into a maintenance stream also has been put into the future development stream as well.

We just want to be able to track a change and make sure the change is not lost or is failed to be ported to the dev stream.

Thanks,
Kevin
