RQM has problem dealing with QTP adaptor

Li Chen (11923742) | asked Dec 28 '12, 1:51 p.m.
Problem description
RQM 4.0.1 I20121114_0159
Firefox 10.0.2
QTP 11 and 10
RQM-QTP-Adapter-v2.0.1.2.
RQM Script Type - HP Quick Test Professional 9.x

When QTP Adaptor was first started, the adaptor name was seen in RQM
QTP Adaptor Console. But after a week, the adaptor disappeared from the
console.

Attempted to deal with this issue a way similar to RFT adaptor by
deleting the configuration file, the problem was not resolved.

The configuration file deleted is C:\QTPAdapter\bin\config.properties,
the content is listed below

Is any error provided when you restart the adapter?  Also, what is the expected output (if any) of the QTP adapter?

Li Chen commented Jan 07 '13, 10:56 a.m.

There is no error when restart.

When QTP adaptor was started, we expect to see it in RQM, i.e. the adaptor should be shown in the Adaptor console of RQM, but it is not. It looks like that the communication between RQM server and the adaptor is broken.

Li,

Can you post the contents of the Adapter log? Does it says its connected?
Are you able to connect to the RQM server via a browser on this same system? Does this system use a proxy server?
Also, if you are trying to connect to RQM 4.0 I would highly recommend using the same version of the Adapter

Thanks Ara, we will do upgrade tonight based on your recommendation, then test again tomorrow. If still not working, I will attach the log here.

 HI,

When the QTP Adapter is started from the QTP Server. Do you leave the system in connected state ? Because if we log out from the server the adapter also stops.

Li Chen commented Jan 24 '13, 1:06 a.m.

We start the adaptor from the adaptor side not the server side. The adaptor should connect to the server but we have no idea whether it is connected or not because the adaptor name does not appear in the Adaptor Console.

Since Li Chen has not posted further logs, I'm assuming his issue was resolved.

Sorry, it took us quite a long time to upgrade both server and client to make sure their versions match. The problem still existed, then I opened a PMR. So currently we are working with IBM 3rd level support. I will give an update about the cause of the problem at the end when the problem is resolved.

Thanks.
