Using Google Talk for IM

Hello,

When I enter my gmail user account info, the Team Concert client gives me an error message saying

---
Could not successfully connect to some of the available collaboration services.

Reason:
Problem occurred while logging into Jabber server.

Details:
Not connected to server.
---

Do I have to install anything before I can connect to Google Talk?

Thanks,
Christoph

No, Google Talk should work out of the box. Did you set up other
collaboration providers, or just GTalk? Can you please check the Error
Log (Press Ctrl+3, type 'error log'). Usually it contains a more
detailed error message.

The stack trace looks like bug 59457
https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/59457

Can you verify that you are using an earlier build than 1.0.1M2?

To get the Google Talk account working, I would recommend deleting the
Sametime configuration for now as it might interrupt the connection
process of all collaboration providers.

Yes, I'm running 1.0.

How do I delete the Sametime configuration? The only thing I can find in the Product Configuration is "Jazz Sametime Integration documentation feature". Disabling that one didn't change anything.

Thanks,
Christoph

I just meant the account. Go to the Instant Messaging preference page
(Window > Preferences > Instant Messaging) and make sure that there is
just one entry for Google Talk, none for Sametime.

Can you please post what your error log is or file a bug against the
collaboration component?

Just a random thought - if you start RTC in a new workspace, does it make any difference or do you get the same problems?

Same problem but different behavior - there is nothing entered in the .log file.

Defect 63208 has been logged to track this.

ciao!
