Please see https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/ContributingAttributePresentationsV2 which could potentially be used to add a button. This is maybe also interesting: https://jazz.net/library/LearnItem.jsp?href=content/docs/web-ui-programming/index.html

I think there is an increasing need for more elaborate ways of customizing work items. Having a button presentation available that is configurable to call a script and/or an extension would be very nice. I don't think it should be so complicated as in https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/ContributingAttributePresentationsV2. It should be just configurng the button with some properties and pick the script or extension similar to attribute customization. https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/270782 has been created to track this.
