Notifications are not working

Bryan Hunt (4463213) | asked Aug 18 '08, 10:47 a.m.
Many milestones ago, notifications stopped working. We are on the 1.0
release now, and they still don't work. Is there a server setting
somewhere that we might not have correct?

Are you referring to Mail notifications or entries to the Event Log inside Jazz? Note that for some milestones, E-Mail notification options have been introduced. If you want to receive E-Mails for work item changes, enable them in the user editor (right click on the project area in "Team Artifacts" and select "open my user editor").

I'm talking about the box that pops up in the lower right corner of
your display.

Oh, I see. Take a look in Window|Preferences|General|Notifications. You can see a list of Events on the left hand side. When you select "Item Received" do you see checked Notifications in the top right area? If not, you can always hit "Restore Defaults" to get the default settings back. Those will open a notification as soon as events come in.

Ben, I looked at my notification settings for Item Received, and I have
Show Alert for New High Priority Events and Highlight high Priority
Events in Red checked. I also looked at Change Sets Delivered and
Deliver Trigger is checked.

Ok, this could be an explanation. If you change the priority level of the first notifier to be >=Lowest, you should see a popup for any event regardless of the priority. Is that working for you?

In fact, I found a bug in the code that checks for the "Match String" condition in the notifier "Show Alert for New High Priority Events". This could explain why you are not getting any notifications. Try removing the "\**" from the notifier and it should work again. Alternatively I recommend creating a new notifier clicking the "Add" button and configuring it to your needs.

The bug I found should be fixed in the next maintenance release.
