Ask a question

is there any Custom iRAM Policy in iRAM to create a folder structure for certain asset types ?

iRAM Administrator (3152156135) | asked Jun 11 '12, 6:25 a.m.
We would like to automatically create a folder structure in the content section of an asset, if the asset is of a certain asset type (like code/software asset)

Example like the below
\source
\test materials
\documentation
\documentation\Architecture
\documentation\Requirements
\Checklists

is there any Default/Custom iRAM Policy in iRAM to create a folder structure for certain asset types ?

Thank you

We've gotten around this problem on our project by creating an asset to use as a template for other assets of the same type.

So, if you have an asset type called Package that needs the folder structure you mentioned, you can create a Package asset.  Give it the name Template for Package Assets, and then create the folder structure using the uploader.  You don't have to actually upload any files.    Save your new asset.

Then, when you need to create more Package assets, just use the Duplicate option and duplicate the Template for Package Assets.  This will give you folder structure already created.

This works in RAM 7.5 and up.  I haven't tried it in any earlier versions.

I wouldn't know what iRAM supplies as custom policies over the default ones supplied by RAM. An iRAM administrator would know that.

But as for the defaults that RAM itself supplies there is no policy to do that.
