Problem installing Server Activation Kit

Shelby Phillips (29624621) | asked Aug 15 '08, 9:53 a.m.
When attempting to load a server activation jar via the "Server Activation Key" section of the "License Key Management" page of the admin UI, receive the following message:

Client Access Type 'Contributor' will be deactivated. See 'Client Access Licenses Activation Keys" section for more information. Client Access Type 'Developer' will be deactivated. See 'Client Access Licenses Activation Keys' section for more information.

I see in this thread: https://jazz.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1794&sid=fb9ad2c23693489c8ea9b5caf6968c0f that it is possible to enter in the number of CALs purchased.

I can enter a value in the field to allow for the correct number of licenses, but do not see a way to save the value. The error message above is in place of the usual "Save" button.

You will see the messages you are seeing if you are installing a server
activation kit for a different edition of the server than you are
currently running. Are you doing that?

You can only update the number of purchased CALs if you have previously
purchased and installed the new CAL activation key. We should probably
fix the first problem before tackling the purchase count issue.

Matt: Is there a way inspect the server activation kit to determine what
edition of the server it is for? (So we can verify whether it is
edition skew that is the problem).

Cheers,
Geoff

When the server license is uploaded to the server it will show the
edition name in the preview of the license page before you click 'save'.

After you upload the server activation kit, the web UI should be updated
to give a detailed reason for the CAL key deactivation. The messages
you copied would have come from the top of the screen, next to the
'save' button. There should be more detailed reasons in the Client
Access License section.

Also, after uploading the activation kit, it should show the edition for
the server and CAL keys in the web UI. Do they all match?

On IE 6.0, I have confirmed that there is no save button accessible after the error messages is displayed. This seems to be a browser specific issue.

I attempted the same action from Firefox 2.0, and the save button was displayed. I edited the text boxes and updated the license counts. The server has now been updated.
