backlog link does not work with own template
We created an own template. Our self-made work items do not appear in the backlog view, although they are not assigned to any iteration.
This contradicts to what help says: "Use the Related Work Items controls to display the following items in the Work Items view: Show Backlog: All open work items that are not assigned to an iteration or which are assigned to a future iteration." (taken from help page "Viewing work items in an iteration plan") How can we use this backlog link for custom work items? Is there a special "flag" to mark the self-made work item definitions as to appear in the list? Roland & Thomas |

How can we use this backlog link for custom work items? Is there a No, there is no such flag and the backlog should contain our custom work items too. Can you ensure that the work items you are expecting to show up are not closed and are associated with the selected team area? Iff so, feel free to file a bug. -- Cheers, Johannes Agile Planning Team |
After your reply I checked this. The work items are not closed and are associated with the correct team area for the iteration plan.
I've tested this behavior with the scrum template and got the same result. Tasks are shown in the backlog, but not storys. Both are associated with the team area. What is the difference between these work item categories, so that tasks will be shown, but stories will not? Roland |

After your reply I checked this. The work items are not closed and are here. The query, which is executed internally, selects all work items which have no target iteration or a target iteration which is not equal to the plans iteration, belong to the team area, and are not closed (open or in progress). As I can not reproduce this yet, I ask you to file a bug with details steps to reproduce. -- Cheers, Johannes Agile Planning Team |

Dashboards and work items are no longer publicly available, so some links may be invalid. We now provide similar information through other means. Learn more here.
