Have you considered using the expand/collapse feature of viewlets? i.e. leave them collapsed, and when you want to see some output, expand them. Or, perhaps using a bookmarks viewlet configured to open some page with output in a new window? Finally, if you're looking for something custom, you could try using the external content viewlet to develop your own page that shows the output however you like - though I'm not sure if you'd be able to show jazz data easily this way.
