RRC System Requirements mandatory?
Hi,
I have installed JTS 3.0.1.3 in a windows XP , 32bit, 3GB system. This system has both Server & Client setup (for RRC, RTC, RQM).
I recently read the system requirements & came to know that RRC server should be either Windows 2003 / 2008 server machine (http://www-01.ibm.com/software/awdtools/rrc/sysreq/)
But I am able to execute most of the requirement elaboration activities using RRC. But, I do face challenges some times, wherein it fails to load the project & containing requirements after couple of login attempts.
I did try with RRC 3.0.1.1, 3.0.1.2. But today, I was going through the system requirements for the RRC server.
Is this lading issue is because of the Windows XP Server box?
I use Mozilla 3.6.28 for RRC Web.
regards
Guru.

Not sure why after you login attempts you are having problems. Windows XP , 32bit, 3GB system, and FF3.6.x should not be a problem with V3. I would not recommend XP for a production server, but I regularly installed a similar demo environment that included both the server and client, and had no problems loading but I did make sure I did not have a lot of other applications active at the same time.
Have you cleared you active logins and browser cache, and cookies - maybe there is something that is causing interference?
Now with V4 demos this is not the case, I run Win 7, 64-bit, 8 Gbytes, and FF10 ESR. Anything less than 4 Gbytes of memory I found I ran into memory issues with the server.

Hi Robin,
Thank you for the reply. How to clear active login information? I am clearing browser cache & cookies everytime.
It looks like, whenever RRC is trying to open a project folder & requirements, it takes sometime to load that structure (there is couple of seconds flash). So, I guess this is due to performance issue.
Anyway, I am planning to install JTS 3.0.1.3 in another system with Win 7, 8GB RAM. Assuming, I will get rid of this error.

While the problem doesn't sound like an issue with using Windows XP, my only concern would be if there might be a memory constraint causing trouble. Possibly running out of heap space for example. You might also monitor {server}\jts\indexing to see if the indexer is falling behind in indexing your data.

Hi Stef,
Thank you for the reply. Please find the indexing details as below. Do I need to increase the Heap size? If so. how to do it?

The indexer is something you want to monitor when things are unresponsive as it continuously changes with usage. What you've shown is that the indexer is not *currently* backlogged. I'd recommend finding some memory monitoring tools to watch your memory usage because you likely are running in a constrained environment by using XP as a server and client.
As for changing the heap size, those are java memory options (-Xmx and -Xms) and again, you need to understand your own environment to determine what the optimal settings might be for your circumstances.
