Rational Software Architect Import tab not appearing

Ankur Bhattacharya (5897) | asked Apr 17 '12, 9:12 a.m.
We have installed Rational Design Manager using a distributed landscape. Our models are version controlled in an RTC server. We have installed the RTC Build System Toolkit and the RDM Import Engine on a separate box. We have got the ant script working which can extract the model files from a Repository workspace in RTC and have also configured the Import Engine. Now the next step is to create the Import Definition in the RDM server.

However we don't find the RSA Import tab appearing in the RDM web ui. We have checked and the users have appropriate license assigned (RDM - Design Manager).

What are we missing? Any pointers would be appreciated.

We installed the RSA DM Server Extension. However even after that the Import tab is not appearing.

Did you run the setup wizard before or after installing the extension? The setup wizard needs to be run after the extension has been installed.

At this point, since there is obviously no data on your server (because you mentioned that the Rational Software Architect Import tab is not there), I would recommend
  1. uninstalling both "Design Management Server" and the "IBM Rational Software Architect Design Manager Server Extension" using the Installation Manager
  2. reinstalling both into the same package group using the Installation Manager
  3. running JTS setup at https://servername:port/jts/setup

I think you are missing the "IBM Rational Software Architect Design Manager Server Extension."

Assuming you're using Windows, from the Start menu, choose IBM Installation Manager, View Installed Packages, and confirm you have both "Design Management Server" and the "IBM Rational Software Architect Design Manager Server Extension" installed.

Wayne, thank you for providing this pointer. We will install this component and check whether this solves the issue.

P.S. - We are installing on a Linux based environment.

We installed the RSA DM Server Extension. However even after that the Import tab is not appearing. We have checked the permissions also and that looks proper.
Please provide some guidance on what else we should be checking regarding this.

Thanks.
