Project plan, quick query syntax: variance algorythm?

Hello,

I'm trying to understand how "variance" operator in a plan's quick query works. I've tried to find out any info in help but failed.

My understanding is that it works for the plan that has snapshot of "Planned" type and applies to the tasks that has difference between Planned Start Date and Actual Start Date or Planned End Date and Actual End Date.

Am I right?

-thanks in advance

Hi Timur,

The Planned Time Variance attribute gives the difference between Planned start and end dates which are stored in a "Planned" type snapshot and the current dates shown in the Gantt chart i.e the Accumulated Time.

Thanks,
Sharoon

Hi Sharoon!

Thanks for clarification! When we are talking about current dates do we mean the dates that are stored in Actual Start\End date fields?

The current dates refer to the dynamic schedule created by the scheduler which is stored in the Accumulated Time attribute and which is represented as a bar in the Gantt chart or Road map.

What is the version of RTC you are using? We do not have an Actual End date attribute but have a Resolved date attribute. The Actual start date attribute is the first instance of the state transition of the work item from a open group to a inprogress group state.

Thanks,
Sharoon
