Change in behavior for estimates between RTC 2 and 3

Karen Paone (122) | asked Mar 08 '12, 4:40 p.m.
We have recently upgraded from 2.0.0.2 and 3.0.1.1 and noticed how data is entered for the estimate, correction, and timespent fields has changed on the RTC web client form and it isn't consistent with the RTC Eclipse 3.0.1.1 client. The estimates must be entered in 1 unit instead of "1w 2d 3h 4m 5s". We have a mixture of users on both interfaces. The feedback we have gotten back from our users is that the change to the web client is a major usability hit and they prefer the old format. Why was this changed?

Concerns with corrupted data:
If the timespent entered from the RTC Eclipse client is "2d 2h" and later the timespent is updated from the web client and changes the units to minutes, the value is changed to 2.25 min (2 m 15 s). The user has unintentionally corrupted the timespent.
Another example: the user wants to specify "1 d 30 m" for the timespent on the web client (1.0625 d entered). It displays "1 d 30 m". Then changes the unit to hours, it is converted to "1 h 3.6 m". If the user notices this and changes the units back to days, the timespent now displays "1 d 28.8" instead of 1 d 30 m".
