Migrating Data from ClearCase to RTC issue

Suresh Raman (9152333) | asked Dec 19 '11, 3:01 p.m.
Hi,

I am trying to import UCM ClearCase Data into RTC. I am executing the following. From RTC Eclipse client, File --> Import --> ClearCase Stream or Branch(Jazz Source Control). All the settings - DB set name, User Db name, CQ User ID and password file in the Sync folder have been set. When I select the files to import and start the process, it runs till the below and gets stuck. The import status shows active and doesn't error out.

Retrieving metadata for: vob/component
Cleartool ls -dump M:/DO_NOT_USE_View/vob.....

Anyone run into this problem?

Any information would be really helpful.

Thanks,
Suresh Raman

I encountered various errors and at the end I put the cccqsync into the ClearCase admin group.

One thing to do is to go to your sync server machine, and see if the
"cleartool ls" process is still active ... if so, it just means you have
a large VOB and the cleartool ls is taking a long time.

If that isn't it (and Jirong's suggestion didn't work), you'll probably
want to open a ticket with Rational Support, or submit a work item
directly on jazz.net.

Cheers,
Geoff

Thanks Jirong and Geoff, It worked after adding it to the admin group though i don't know what difference it made.

I have one more question. I would like to implement branching in RTC, like an integration stream from which we have a development stream and users check in to the dev sream. I rememder Geoff stating in some other duscussion that we will need a workspace and keep changing the flow target. Is that still valid or do we have an easier way?

Thanks for your suggestions and all your help.

Probably best to start a new topic on this question, since it isn't
related to the original subject.

It's not quite clear what you are asking. Perhaps you are asking if you
can promote changes from the dev stream to the int stream without using
a workspace? In RTC-3.0.1, it is possible to deliver directly from one
stream to another, as long as there are no conflicts. To resolve
conflicts, you do need to have a workspace.

Geoff

Thanks Geoff. Yes that is what I was trying to ask. While going through the articles, I came across an article about parallel development which I think is my starting point. I will go through the articles and will start a new thread if I have any questions. Thanks again.

I was on vacation and just returned, hence the delay in the response.
