RAF and Build Forge

Hi,

With the new standalone RAF, under what circumstances do we still require buildforge (license)? It seems RAF has the buildforge functionality embedded.
Please advise. Thanks.

Greetings!

As of RAF 3.0 you don't need a separate BF license, as long as you are using the BF technology only to support RAF automation.

Another way of saying this would be that you need a Build Forge license if you are using the embedded Build Forge for anything other than the installation/patching/fixing of middleware, configuration of middleware, operation (start/stop/etc.) of middleware, and the deployment of application/application artifacts.

So if I was in the middle of a deployment, and as part of the deployment needed to update oracle tables - would the steps/project to update the tables within the oracle instance be considered part of RAF or Buid Forge?

From a licensing perspective, that would be considered a RAF activity (part of the deployment of the application and application artifacts).

Examples of things that you would not be allowed to do with just a RAF license would be things liked automated build, automated release, automated testing, etc.
