Possible to set a Default Value for a Boolean attribute?

I have a Work Item Custom Attribute which has a type of Boolean. I don't seem to be able to set a Default Value for it. Does anyone know if this is possible please? I've been told that it may not be. When I create a Default Value I have to select a Type but Boolean is not one of the listed Type values.
