"undefined" link type in RTC to RDM

Cesar Ida (4222) | asked Oct 24 '11, 8:33 a.m.
Hi all,

I have setup the RDM to CLM integration. I am able to create links from a model to RRC, RTC and RQM. But from RRC, RTC or RQM, the link appears as "undefined" type, although the link URI appears correctly.

What am I doing wrong?

Tks.
Cesar

Hey Cesar,

The current versions of RRC and RQM presently do not consume the OSLC Archictecture Management API. However they do provide implmentations of the OSLC Requirements Management and Quality Management specification, which Design Management can consume and use to create links to.

The result is that, for this current version of RRC and RQM links to Design Management resources are not visible, nor can they be created from these applications. However Design Management can create links to resources in them.

When it comes to RTC, it does recognize and consume the OSLC Architecture Management API, and can create links to DM resources. However RTC link types are strongly controlled. Only 'Elaborated by Architecture Element' links can be created from RTC to DM resources.

Design Management provides a very customizable link type system, and it is possible to create all different types of links, however when linking to RTC only two types of 'backlinks' are supported; 'Related To', and 'Elaborated by Architecture Element'. As a result only the predefined DM link types; 'Related To' and 'Elaborates', will result in a RTC resource with a link back to the DM resource. If you define your own link type, in the current version of RTC the only reverse link type URIs that are supported are;

http://jazz.net/xmlns/prod/jazz/calm/1.0/elaboratedByArchitectureElement
http://jazz.net/xmlns/prod/jazz/rtc/cm/1.0/com.ibm.team.workitem.linktype.relatedartifact.relatedArtifact

I don't know why RRC shows 'undefined link type' in thier list of link of link types. But at least for me RRC does not allow links to be created with this type at all.

Tks a lot for your answer Jim, I guess you are right as RTC links are working fine. The problem is with RRC links to RDM (or backlinks when linking from RDM to RRC).

Regards.
Cesar
