Can't create new user

Hello,

I am trying to create a new user on my Project Area and when I click on Create (at the Members area), the name of the user doesn't show up in the search results.

Note: the user was a coop and has been recently hired as a regular. His intranet id is still the same. When he was a coop, he had a user in the RTC Project Area. I tried to delete this user before creating a new one, but I get the message "Permission Denied" when I try to save the changes. This might be the root cause of the problem described above.

Please advise. I have the admin role of the Project Area.
