Push and Pull with Design Management and OSLC

Hi!

How are updates/news published to the users?

My question is two folded:

1. Collaborative Design Management
CDM enables you to search, review, comment etc on designs created in Rhapsody and/or RSA. If there is a change in the design/model, how will the user of CDM get updated/informed about the change?
I'm looking for a solution where you can get the news without having to synchronize the repositories.

2. Tool x
Could you include any tool x to be part of the collaboration around designs/models?

Is OSLC integration a way to enhance the collaboration?
Any other resources than
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rdmhelp/v3/index.jsp
?

Background
With the latest versions of RTC and RQM the updates will show up in the dashboards for the resp. user, provided you subscribe to changes. Taking OSLC into account we could open up this nice feature for other tools (jazzed and 3rd party), without having to click on the magic sync button.

Thanks for the feedback, Johan!

I've asked someone on our development team to address #2. For #1, can you tell me more?

For example, what user roles do you foresee requiring what information about what types of changes?

When do you expect the system to provide this information?

In what area of CDM would you expect to see this information?

By "magic sync button", do you mean the refresh button on the dashboard page or are you referring to the process of importing your changed models from RSA or Rhapsody into CDM?

Hi Marnie!
Thank you for your reply.

Assuming a project manager is using RTC. That person can in "real-time" see that for example a test manager using RQM has completed a test run for a specific task in a project. The project manager can see that without leaving RTC.

In the CDM case the quesion will be: How will the project manager using RTC see that a developer has for exampe modified an UML model in Rhapsdy? I assume it is not visible "real-time" like in the RQM case?

I guess we've to stick with the refresh button, since we're using a web browser. I'm more referring to the process of import or explicit sync.

Thanks again, Johan.

I've created an enhancement to investigate and consider some additional dashboard widgets for CDM: https://jazzdev04.torolab.ibm.com:9443/jazz04/web/projects/Design%20Management#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=22047

This feature would allow you to add more CDM widgets to your RTC dashboard to see events like model changes or import completions without leaving RTC.

If there are other events you need, please comment on that work item.

Would this feature satisfy your needs in this scenario you've given? Feel free to suggest other solutions to solve this problem.

Yes, thank you. This will satisfy my needs.

Looking forward to follow the enhancement on jazz.net.
