Star data collection job failing

Hello Jared,

What is the SQL Server version which you are using?

May be you can revisit the JTS ETL log file and search for ERROR message. Most likely there should be an exception in the ETL log file, because STAR jobs have failed.

Also, I guess, the last log message which you have mentioned should be:
Java ETL (STAR): History build execution completed! (23 out of 23 passed)

And, as Peter suggested, it might be good to work with tech support for this issue so that we can look at all your logs to analyze the issue.

Hi Jared,

have you looked at the Database logs? I have found indicators there when it was inconclusive what happened wrong in the past. Other than that, I am not sure. You could look into the log4j.properties there are debug settings you can change for the ETL jobs.

Yes you're right, that should have been 23 of 23.

We're using SQL Server 2005 with version 2 of the Microsoft JDBC driver.

I've raised defect 173246 to cover the issue. James Moody was able to find the following error in the logs:

2011-08-05 00:08:01,734 ERROR ervice.starjobs.internal.StarRemoteSnapshotService - com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Type DATE is not a defined system type
