Unable to edit the Business Process Diagrams,UI Sketch etc..

I am working on RRC 3.0.1 fucntionality and I am facing the error:
ID CRRRW8010E A server error prevented the generation of the content. Refresh your browser to generate the content again. If the problem persists, there might be an issue with the server. Ask your administrator to check the server status.
while editing the Business Process Diagrams.I am using internet Explorer 8 browser.
Can someone please help me in this issue? Can you please provide me the steps to edit the Business Process Diagrams, UI Sketches etc. I have applied the JKE Sample Project Template and trying to edit the BPD. I even tried to create a new BPD and was able to create a flow chart too but while saving it again I am getting the same error and all my changes get lost!!!! Please help..

Hello,

The error you are encountering is typically a server-side problem with the converter responsible for rendering the read-only view of a graphical artifact. The most common cause we see for this issue is that the server is a Linux-based, headless (console-mode) only configuration. Let me know if that sounds like your environment and we can proceed with resolving it. As a head start, you might check the following technote about setting up Xvfb to handle the graphical requests from the converter.
https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?q1=RN2.0.0.1&rs=3499&uid=swg21410023&cs=utf-8&lang=en&loc=en_US

As a side note, the fact that the converter is not able to render your diagram does not mean that your work was lost. If you were to re-edit the artifact, it should appear just as it was when you last saved from the editor. Can you verify that is the case?

Anyway, let us know a bit more about your server-side configuration and we'll be happy to help get this resolved for you.

Hi Stef,

Thanks for the help. unfortunately the technote that you provided me does not help as it was for the version 2.0.And I am currently working on 3.0.1.The server details are:Windows server 2008 64 bit operation System.
CLM 3.0.1 with JTS,CCM+RM+QM application on WAS 7.0.0.13 application server. I have created a test project area with the sample JKE Project Template and I am gearing up my knowledge for RRC 3.0.1 by working on and testing this project.I am trying to access the existing business process diagrams, work flows etc and getting the error. Also I tried to create a new business process diagram and started creating it, when I clicked on save after I was done with the diagram, again I got this error and I lost all the work that I did in this newly created BPD. :(

Hello Shweta,

Actually while the technote was written for 2.0, the underlying principle of why you need it still applies to 3.0.1. That said, it's only for servers running on Linux, and as you've now pointed out that you have a Windows server, the technote does not apply to your situation.

My next suspicion, as you are using WAS, is that the converter war was not actually deployed. Please have a look at this section of the documentation and verify that the converter.war file is in fact deployed.
https://jazz.net/help-dev/clm/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.jazz.install.doc/topics/t_deploy_was.html

As for your work, as I mentioned in my previous response, the fact that the converter is not able to render your diagram does not mean that your work was lost. If you were to re-edit the artifact, it should appear just as it was when you last saved from the editor. Can you verify that is the case?

Hi Stef,
Thanks for the help!!!. This worked fine..I have now deployed the converter.war file and I am now able to view the BPD's but when I try to edit them I get another Error:
Editor could not be started.

"ID CRRRW7386E The editor could not be started because the Editor Runtime Environment is not available. Uninstall the Browser Add-on Plug-in, restart the browser, and reinstall the plug-in to resolve the issue."

I have already downloaded the RRC addon, infact I uninstalled it and reinstalled it to edit the BPD still I am getting this error. I am facing this same problem in both the browsers IE and Mozilla Firefox. Can you please help me in this?

That's curious. I thought you had been successfully editing BPDs earlier? What changed? Note that editing is not affected at all by the converter.war, so simply deploying that would have no affect. Editing is purely a client side activity, so did something change on your client?

I'd recommend reviewing this wiki page and probably uninstalling the plugin and re-installing it. I'd also recommend doing that while only having one browser type active/running at a time (either IE or FF). Please read through the instructions completely, because the uninstall steps vary depending on whether you've had previous milestone/beta drivers installed.
https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/RRCBrowserAddOns

The other thing to check is to see if the plugin created the appropriate directories here:
C:\Documents and Settings\{Windows ID}\IBM\RRCAddOn{version}

You should expect to see directories for ff, ie, jre and osgi (assumign you installed the plugin for both browsers).

Thanks Stef for the link provided. I followed the steps mentioned in the link about the native.properties and trace.options files even restarted the browser but still I am getting the same error :(

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm running into the same issue and have uninstalled/reinstalled several time on both Firefox and IE. I'm just trying to create a use case diagram, when I try to edit, I get the runtime error. 3.0.1 XP SP 3 32 bit.

I was able to overcome this by downgrading Firefox to 3.6.4. I installed the plug in in the new browser, restarted and now it works.

Good to hear that you got this working.

I have used FF7 with RRC V3.0.1.1 (GA Oct 17th), though a non supported browser, the only problem I found when editing the artifact was that I needed to slightly change the size of the window before the page would show the content. But FF 3.6.x is the officially supported version.

We have solved the situation by installing a JDK into the machine and pointing the JAVA_HOME system variable to that JDK.
